When boaters toss their Christmas trees off the docks, it can create serious tangle hazards for divers. Tulsa District’s United States Army Corps of Engineers encouraged folks to donate their trees to their local office, and they used these trees to create new fish ecosystems at Fort Gibson Lake.
Pier 51 Marina and Make-a-Wish Foundation help Tulsa resident Peyton Schoonover fulfill their boat ride dream
In 2021, Peyton Schoonover was a 12-year-old from Tulsa who had battled T-cell lymphoma for four years. The News On 6 team reported that Pier 51 Marina and the Make-a-Wish Foundation teamed up to help Peyton have a great summer. He was given 25 free boat rental passes, enough gas money to last the summer ($1,500), and maybe most importantly – the boat he rode on was named Laura, after his nurse.

General Manager Sean Adair becomes an Association of Marina Industries Certified Marina Manager (CMM)
General Manager Sean Adair has spent a lifetime on the water, but 2022 was the year it became officially recognized. At the 2022 AMI Conference – an annual gathering of marine industry professionals in Daytona Beach, Florida – Sean was awarded official recognition as a Certified Marina Manager (CMM). To earn an industry-recognized marina management accreditation, he completed both the Advanced Marina Management Course (AMM) and the Intermediate Marina Management Course (IMM).
